We Support UK Plus Size Retail
I guess the title says it all, We support UK plus size retail and We want you to as well. This is a very good idea because the retailers keep the manufactures going. If the manufactures keep going then we also support design talent as well.
As you can see there is a whole chain that leads to what you wearing right now. Even if it is made in some far away country. But it would be very nice if home grown designers were able to get their clothing made by manufactures in the UK and sold through UK shops.
When we come across retailers in the UK selling plus size clothing, we mention it on SizeNet ShowCase. This site is mainly focused on the UK and occasionally branching out to other countries.
What we don't come across to often is those who design the clothes. We want to hear more about them and get their name and work out there.
As I said above, we need your help. Each time you come across a UK plus size retailer, manufacture or designer then please let us know. We can bring these companies and individuals to your attention so you end up with a greater choice.
That's not a bad idea it is?

Jamaica has it's own full figured model contest
The Jamaican website, the Gleaner, reports on the first full figured model contest. The picture shows the three winners, Tka Briscoe (centre), winner of the Pulse Caribbean Model Search full-figured competition, with Nicolle Duffus-Lindsay (left, second runner-up) and first runner-up, Alicia Myrie.
They don't really look like plus size girls but then there is no real definition at what size plus size starts.
Elisabeth Patch and The Three Graces
I was wondering through the blog for Elisabeth Patch who is a talented artist. There are some great pictures including the updated picture of The Three Graces, by Peter Paul Rubens. She has dressed them in modern day clothes and they do like women of today.
Obese parents get their 2 week old baby back
Back in March I wrote about a Scottish couple who were parents to 6 kids (Family to be broken up because the children are too fat). Seems I have not been keeping up with events because 2 weeks ago, the mother gave birth to a daughter. Only 24 hours after that special event, social services turned up with a court order to have the child taken in to care.
Violence against plus size people, TV program to explore the issues
I received a press release on Friday from the BBC but I am only now able to write about it. Their 'Inside Out' program tonight (7.30pm GTM) will cover how 'Marsha' (a plus sized woman) was brutally attacked on a train because of her size.
German Brigitte fashion mag to stop using pro models
The top German fashion magazine, Brigitte, has made a major announcement that they will no longer use professional models. They state that, "Today's models weigh around 23% less than normal women". Too much time and effort is put in to the photo's to make the models look like their readers.

This weeks CoverGirl is Ms Eerie, who is lurking in a shed. I guess she must be English, a nation of shed lovers. This fine photo really shows that a curvey girl can photograph as good as any other model.
